Scott Franks

Lincoln Alexander School of Law

As a tenure-stream faculty member at the Lincoln Alexander School of Law, Professor Franks teaches required and elective courses in Indigenous and Aboriginal Law and Indigenous Legal Theory and Practice. Since the inauguration of the law school in 2020, Professor Franks has assisted the law school with the implementation of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission’s Calls to Action. His inclusive, innovative and collaborative teaching includes assisting faculty members and adjuncts with the integration of Indigenous law, issues and perspectives in their courses, and prepares Indigenous and non-Indigenous law students for practice in Indigenous community contexts.

Kathleen Hammond

Lincoln Alexander School of Law

Prof. Hammond relies on non-traditional methods to teach law – drawing on film, imagery, video games – to great effect. Her creative teaching is admired by her colleagues, and she is beloved by her students, who have awarded her their Professor of the Year award. She generously shares her innovative teaching materials; founded and directs the Health Law and Innovation Research Group; extensively supervises students learning innovative research methods; and through her role in developing the graduate program is ensuring that innovation will be foregrounded as the law school takes this new step. She embodies innovation and teaching excellence.

Yukari Seko

The Creative School

Since 2019, Dr. Seko has quickly emerged as a leader and innovator in the field of graduate supervision. She has received a prestigious Teaching Fellowship (2022-23) and a Learning and Teaching Grant (2020-21) from the CELT to develop a solution-focused graduate supervision training and communities of practice for faculty and graduate students. Dr. Seko has also demonstrated excellence in innovative course re/design by implementing flipped classroom approach and arts-based assignments (supported by the Creative School ECI Curriculum Grant). As a committed advocate for social justice and inclusive education, Dr. Seko’s has consistently created rich learning experiences for her students.
