Winter 2022 Startup: Virtual & On-Demand

Remote-ready active wellbeing programs to keep you feeling and thinking your best
January 13, 2022

View update on January 31 Reopening

While we can't wait to welcome you back in-person, the remote-ready online programs highlighted below will continue throughout the term.

Be kind to yourself... Move Everywhere.
The pandemic remains the challenge no one asked for and that we all can't wait to move on from. There are moments where we may feel great, and others where we just want to curl up in a ball and hide. Both are very much valid. But regardless of where you find yourself in the current moment, there's one sure path to better outcomes: Movement - as both a wellbeing and learning strategy.

Whether a 3-minute movement break, a 10-minute walk or an intense strength and cardio workout, moving with intention, connecting with our bodies, and listening to how we're feeling, is proven to positively shift how we think and feel. Regular physical activity leads to elevated mood, better sleep and clearer, more creative thinking. And during this time, it also brings a critical sense of agency and progress missing in our lives.

So be kind to yourself, but also move. And know we are here for you online until we can welcome you back to MAC and RAC in-person.

Live & On-Demand Classes

Whether strength and cardio, yoga or dance, our instructors are here for you and ready with no/low equipment and home-friendly ways to get moving, whether live on Zoom or on-demand.

Group Fitness: Live Virtual Classes

Whether it’s your first time or you are a regular, everyone is welcome to join us! Morning and evening classes will be offered each week and all term long starting January 17, 2022.

Find the class schedule and descriptions on our Move Everywhere > Online page and join us on Zoom. There will be an instructor there to lead you, whether you would prefer to keep your camera on or off.

Make a connection, practice gratitude and build community: Entirely optional, but we encourage you to stick around at the end of the class to turn on your mic and say a quick "thank you" - to yourself, your classmates and your instructor.

Anticipated Reopening of the MAC and RAC

Looking south over the quad at the RAC front entrance and the facade of the old Normal School that was located there.

The RAC and MAC remain closed until at least January 26, 2022, in keeping with the province of Ontario's current COVID-19 restrictions (external link) . As updated direction comes from the province, an announcement of reopening plans will be made on ryerson.ca/recreation and our social channels @RURecreation (external link)

We know the impact of our programs and services on student wellbeing and academic achievement, and remain commited to reopening whenever it is safe to do so. With over 30,000 student visits to the RAC, MAC and Kerr Hall this past fall - all with no recorded transmission of any infections in our programs or facilities - the safety of our students, members and staff remains our top priority.

We can't wait to welcome you back in-person soon - stay tuned, stay well and keep moving until then!
