What is the Get Clear with Thriving in Action Program?


The Get Clear with Thriving in Action Program is a 6-week program to support your academic journey throughout the semester. In this program, you will be equipped with different Student Success Tools and Learning Strategies to help you achieve your academic goals. In this program, you will:

  • Explore your academic strengths and challenges
  • Familiarize yourself with different learning tools and strategies to improve your academic performance 
  • Develop a plan for your semester 
  • Get support throughout the semester through various programs
    • 1-on-1 advising and mentorship support 
    • In-person meet ups, study sessions, and accountability groups 
  • Gain a sense of self-confidence and empowerment!
  • Attend three out of four Thriving in Action workshops that will help you to:
    • Boost resilience 
    • Increase self-compassion and silence that inner critic
    • Combat procrastination
    • Enhance your note-taking skills for more productive lectures
    • Study efficiently for greater academic success
    • Lead from your strengths
    • Cultivate hope and build optimism

Get Clear with Thriving in Action Program Overview

Week 1 

January 29 - February 2, 2024

Welcome to Get Clear with Thriving in Action! This week, you will log onto our Get Clear D2L portal and become familiar with week one activities and tasks. This week, you will set your Academic Goal for the semester and get organized! You will also book your first meeting with your Get Clear Peer Academic Coach this week. 

Did you know that all Get Clear students have a designated campus study place? The Community Study Group will meet on Thursdays from 1:00 to 4:00 PM at SLC 451. And remember to complete the asynchronous portion of the program on D2L.

Week 2

February 5 - February 9, 2024

This is a mandatory component in the Get Clear with Thriving in Action Program.

Students will join our first synchronous workshop on Zoom with Thriving in Action, Top 10 Tips to Thrive at TMU, from 12:00-1:30 PM on Monday February 5th. Students will log onto the Get Clear D2L portal to access the weekly Student Success Tools and Learning Strategies for the week.

The Community Study Group will meet on Thursdays from 1:00 to 4:00 PM at SLC 451. And complete the asynchronous portion of the program on D2L.

Week 3

February 12 - February 16, 2024

Choose 2 of 3 workshop options (from weeks 3- 5) for the Get Clear with Thriving in Action Program.

Students can join session two with Thriving in Action: Growth Mindset, Mindful Time Management, Studying, and Test-Taking from 12:00-1:30 PM on Monday February 12th through Zoom. Students will log onto the Get Clear D2L portal to access the weekly Student Success Tools and Learning Strategies for the week. 

The Community Study Group will meet on Thursdays from 1:00 to 4:00 PM at SLC 451. And remember to complete the asynchronous portion of the program on D2L.

Week 4 

February 26 - March 1, 2024

Choose 2 of 3 workshop options (from weeks 3- 5) for the Get Clear with Thriving in Action Program.

Students can join session three with Thriving in Action, Note-taking, Mindful Time Management, Habits and Sleep from 12:00-1:30 PM on Monday February 26th through Zoom. Students will log onto the Get Clear D2L portal to access the weekly Student Success Tools and Learning Strategies for the week. Students will also book an appointment with their designated Student Success Navigator. 

The Community Study Group will meet on Thursdays from 1:00 to 4:00 PM at SLC 451. And remember to complete the asynchronous portion of the program on D2L

Week 5

March 4 - March 8, 2024

Choose 2 of 3 workshop options (from weeks 3- 5) for the Get Clear with Thriving in Action Program.

Students can join session three with Thriving in Action, Lab Report and Essay-Writing, Mindful Time Management, Self-Compassion, Procrastination and Willpower from 10:00-11:30 AM on Monday March 4th (note the time change) through Zoom. Students will log onto the Get Clear D2L portal to access the weekly Student Success Tools and Learning Strategies for the week. Students will also book an appointment with their designated Student Success Navigator. 

The Community Study Group will meet on Thursdays from 1:00 to 4:00 PM at SLC 451. And remember to complete the asynchronous portion of the program on D2L.

Week 6 

March 11 - March 15

This is a mandatory component in the Get Clear Program.

Students will join our Get Clear Program Debrief and Midterm Planning session from 1:00 PM - 1:30 PM on Monday March 11. Students will log onto the Get Clear D2L portal to access the weekly Student Success Tools and Learning Strategies for the week.

Moving forward, students will have full access to all Get Clear with Thriving in Action resources on the D2L portal. 

Community Study Group session in SLC 451 on Thursdays from 1:00-4:00 pm will continue until April 17, 2024.

Get Clear with Thriving in Action

Get Clear with Thriving in Action aims to provide students with holistic success tools and learning strategies for success in transitioning into Clear Academic Standing. 

  • Is there a disconnect between how much time you spend studying and the grades you’re getting?
  • Do you want to approach your next test, essay, or presentation confidently and calmly?
  • Do you find it hard to focus, prioritize, or plan?
  • Do you wonder how you can bounce back and feel good about your student journey?
