TRSM makes ShanghaiRanking's 2019 Global Ranking of Academic Subjects in three areas

August 22, 2019

ShanghaiRanking's 2019 Global Ranking of Academic Subjects has ranked TRSM in three areas: Top 200 in Hospitality & Tourism Management (for the first time), Top 300 in Management and Top 400 in Business Administration.

The Global Ranking of Academic Subjects 2019 (external link, opens in new window)  was released by ShanghaiRanking Consultancy, which has been publishing Academic Ranking of World Universities (ARWU) by academic subjects since 2009.  The release contains rankings of universities in 54 subjects across Natural Sciences, Engineering, Life Sciences, Medical Sciences and Social Sciences.  More than 1,700 universities from 86 countries and regions are published in this year’s release.

“We are very happy that our research output is recognized in worldwide rankings and we are among a select group of Canadian business schools on these lists,” says Dr. Ozgur Turetken, TRSM’s Associate Dean, Research. “Since the Academic Ranking of World Universities started subject-based rankings, we have been recognized in the areas of Management and Business Administration. Our goal is to not only continue this trend, but also go up in this and other similar rankings.”

ARWU uses objective indicators to rank world universities, including the number of papers authored by an institution, paper citations, the percentage of papers with international co-authorship, papers published in top journals and the number of alumni and faculty winning prestigious awards.
