New Faces at The Catalyst at FCAD

The Catalyst welcomes six new faces joining The Catalyst this summer

Joining us this summer are six bright and talented students who will become regular fixtures at The Catalyst. We are delighted to welcome: Juan Pablo Peña Herrera (Mexico), Rain Senra-Francois (Creative Industries), Sara Elsadik (Professional Communication), Donovan Bestari (Image Arts), and Wesley Rae Morota (Computer Science), and Declan Keogh (Journalism).

Rain Senra-Francois

Rain Senra-Francois joins the Creativity Everything Lab as a Career Boost Summer Student. Rain is currently completing a degree in Creative Industries at Ryerson University, with modules in Curatorial Practices and Interior Design.

Sara Elsadik

Sara Elsadik joins The Catalyst Operations Team as the Special Projects and Administration Assistant under the CareerBoost Program.

Sara is a 4th-year Professional Communication student. She is the founder of Ryerson’s new student group "RU Table Talk", an initiative designed to get students talking about topics ranging from, but not limited to, self-development and social justice issues. Sara enjoys reading, listening to podcasts, and singing in her free time.

Donovan Bestari

Donovan Bestari joins The Catalyst Operations Team as the Communications Assistant under the CareerBoost Program.

Donovan is a 4th year Photography Integrated Digital student at Ryerson University. His work consists of a mix of photography, graphic design and 3D animation.

Wesley Rae Morota

Wesley Rae Morota joins Hugh Elliott at the CoLab as the Assistant Creative Technologist under the Career Boost program.

Wesley is a third year student at Ryerson University majoring in Computer Science with a minor in Graphic Communications and Design. He is really passionate about trying to combine his skills, talents and ideas in both design and programming.

Juan Pablo Peña Herrera

Juan Pablo Peña Herrera, is a grad student from the Engineering Faculty of National Autonomous University of Mexico where he studies mechatronics engineering. JP is an award-winning student with a specialization in creative product development for industrial automation, virtual and augmented reality simulation, and robotics and disability solutions. He has extensive international project experience in Japan, Canada and Latin America.

On a MITACS International scholarship, Juan is supporting Dr. Richard Lachman on a special project focused on developing augmented reality solutionS. You can connect with him at juanpena@torontomu.ca.

Declan Keogh

Declan Keogh, is about to graduate with his bachelor of journalism from Ryerson University and is currently working with the Institute for Investigative Journalism and the National Student Investigative Reporting Network.

His work with the Institute includes researching and reporting on matters of vital public interest that are national in scope. His work has appeared in a number of publications, including CBC, the National Observer and NOW Magazine. Before coming to Ryerson, he travelled the world playing music in a DIY punk band.
