Permit Parking

Permit parking is available to Toronto Metropolitan University community members. Learn about your options:

We are currently offering an eight month parking permit for TMU students. 

Fall/winter 2023-24 permits 

Fall 2023 and winter 2024 parking permits are available for purchase on a first-come, first-served basis.

Duration

Parking permits are valid for an eight month period and grant you unlimited in-and-out parking privileges for the duration of your parking permit:

  • Fall 2023 and winter 2024 semesters: September 1, 2023 to April 30, 2024 (240 Jarvis St. Garage and 202 Jarvis St. Lot)

Parking permit eligibility

Undergraduate and Chang School of Continuing Education students 

  • Students must be enrolled in a minimum of three courses in the fall and winter semesters.

Graduate students 

  • Students must be registered in the fall and winter semesters.

Permit locations 

Student parking permits can be used in one of two parking facilities.

240 Jarvis St. Garage (underground parking)

  • Height clearance: 6 ft.
  • Location: West side of Jarvis St. between Gerrard St. and Dundas St., under the ILLC
  • Accessible parking options: 3 standard accessible parking spaces (Type B)

202 Jarvis St. Lot (surface parking)

  • Location: Between Jarvis St. and Mutual St. on north side of Dundas St. Entrance on Mutual St.
  • Accessible parking options: 2 standard accessible parking spaces (Type B)

Fall/winter 2023-24 student parking permit applications are now closed.

The online permit application portal is not available between 12 a.m. to 1:15 a.m. daily for maintenance.

Application process

Once your purchase is completed, you will receive an email confirmation to your TMU email account from tmuparking@torontomu.ca. This email will include:

  • Transaction confirmation
  • Parking facility location attached to your permit
  • Access guidelines for your parking facility location
  • Placement of parking permit decals on vehicles

How to pick up your parking permit decal

TMU student parking permit holders may pick up their parking permit decal from the OneCard Office during the year, or from the Kerr Hall West (KHW) Lower Gym during the last week of August and first week of September. Please note that we require 48 hours between when you purchase your parking permit and when you may pick-up your parking permit decal from the OneCard Office.

Fall/winter 2023-24 parking permit decals may be picked up from the Kerr Hall West (KHW) Lower Gym, Monday to Friday during the following times:

Using your parking permit decal

Parking permit decals must be clearly displayed on the left side of the vehicle’s front windshield or on the dashboard of the vehicle at all times. Failure to do so may result in the vehicle being ticketed and/or towed.

 

We are currently offering ongoing permanent parking permits for TMU staff and faculty.

Fall and winter 2023 to 2024 permits

Currently, staff and faculty parking permits are only available at the 288 Church St. Garage (DCC). There are no available staff and faculty parking permits at the 300 Victoria St. (PKG) and 160 Mutual St. (PIT) garages at this time.

Staff and faculty may purchase an ongoing, permanent parking permit (beginning September 1, 2023.) 

Eligibility

In order for staff and faculty to be eligible for a parking permit, you must be employed by the university.

Faculty and staff parking permits are currently available for the 288 Church St. Garage. 

288 Church St. Garage (underground parking)

  • Height clearance: 6.3 ft.
  • Location: Alleyway south of 288 Church St. Accessible from the west side of Church St. between Gerrard St. and Dundas St.
  • Accessible parking options: 3 accessible van parking spaces (Type A), 6 standard accessible parking spaces (Type B)
Access and coverage Cost Status

Access by OneCard/FOB, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

FOB is required to access the garage between 12 a.m. to 5:59 a.m.

This parking garage is not staffed.

$260 (includes HST) per month

If you're interested in a parking permit at the 288 Church St. Garage, please complete the 288 Church St. Garage Parking Permit Expression of Interest form.

Parking Services staff will provide you with an update on the status of your 288 Church St. parking permit application two business days after submitting your application.

Payment

Payment for 288 Church St. Garage parking permits will automatically be made through payroll deductions based on your pay schedule.

Faculty and staff will automatically have their parking permit renewed each month on an ongoing basis through HR until we receive notification that they would like to cancel or suspend their parking permit.

Completing the 288 Church St. Garage Parking Permit Expression of Interest Form does not guarantee you a parking permit for the 288 Church St. Garage. Parking Services staff will provide you with an update on the status of your 288 Church St. parking permit application two business days after completing the form.

How to pick up your parking permit FOB

Employees may pick up their parking permit FOBs from the OneCard Office in POD-48. Please note that we require 48 hours between when you purchase your parking permit and when you may pick-up your parking permit decal or FOB from the OneCard Office.

 In the event you lose your FOB, a replacement may be purchased for $50.

Join the waitlist for parking permits at the 300 Victoria St. or 160 Mutual St. garages

If you would like to be placed on the waitlist for the 300 Victoria St. or 160 Mutual St. garages, please complete the Parking Permit Application for staff and faculty. Parking locations are listed in the application.

Once there is a parking spot available, you will be contacted by email. Please note that at this time there is an up to two-year waiting period.

Once you are contacted, if you do not respond to an offer within 10 business days, your name will be removed from the waitlist and we will move to the next applicant on the list.

If your first choice lot is offered to you and you accept, your other waitlist requests will become void. If your second choice lot is offered to you, your first choice request will remain active.

Suspend your existing parking permit

If you would like to suspend your parking permit privileges for medical leave (one month or longer in duration), maternity/parental leave, and/or sabbatical, please complete the  (google form) Staff and Faculty Parking Suspension Request Form (external link) . Permits cannot be suspended for vacations or holiday periods.  Suspension requests are subject to payroll deadlines. If a suspension request is received after the payroll deadline, deductions will be applied to the next pay period. A suspension of parking privileges cannot be effected retroactively.
