Recently graduated or in your final year? Increase your marketability to potential employers by gaining skills important to the 21st century workplace. 

The Professional Skills Development Zone provides opportunities to develop transferable skills like critical thinking, communication, interpersonal relations and technical skills. You’ll have the opportunity to choose from a combination of workshops and learning modules, led by entrepreneurship and business experts and practitioners from zones and across Toronto Metropolitan University. 

You will also have the opportunity to apply for work placements at Zone startups and other employers. The Professional Skills Development Zone gives you a preview of the foundational skills required to pursue entrepreneurship as a career path in any industry. As a member of this Zone you may be eligible for work placement subsidy programs.

Details & Eligibility

Please check that you qualify for the Zone before you apply. To be eligible, you should:

  • be 17 years of age or older, and
  • be a current undergraduate, graduate or continuing education student in your final year of study, or
  • have completed your undergraduate, graduate or continuing education program within the last 12 calendar months (your last course should have been within the 3 school semesters).

Unfortunately, we cannot offer the Professional Skills Development Zone to students who are members of other zones. If you are a student who is enrolled in a degree or certificate program with a co-op work term, internship, practicum, placement or other form of work integrated learning, your participation in the zone cannot be used toward academic credit.

Enrolment in the Zone does not guarantee a work placement for students. However, registration in the Zone may make students eligible for work placement subsidy programs or supplemental funding programs.
