Virtual Celebration Day Agenda

On June 30, wherever you are, we celebrate together. Join in celebrating our graduates as they move from one chapter on to the next.

Date: Tuesday, June 30
Time: 10:00–11:00 a.m.

Info: Come and join the Ryerson community in a celebration acknowledging our spring 2020 grads. Marci Ien (RTA class of '91, co-host of CTV's The Social) will host the livestreamed event, with special messages from Ryerson dignitaries to grads! All Ryerson community members are welcome to attend.

This virtual celebration is not meant to take the place of a convocation ceremony for our spring 2020 grads. Ryerson is currently planning future ceremonies, as the situation permits.

Date: Tuesday, June 30
Time: 12:00–12:30 p.m.

Info: Join Eric McCormack as he addresses the graduating class of 2020. There will also be a Q+A portion to this event - submit a question when filling out the registration form. All Ryerson community members are welcome to attend.

About Eric: Eric McCormack graduated from Ryerson University’s Theatre program in 1985. He then spent five seasons with the Stratford Festival and performed in theatres across Canada before reaching Broadway in 2001, starring as The Music Man. He later starred opposite James Earl Jones and Angela Lansbury in the Tony-nominated revival of Gore Vidal’s The Best Man.

Best known since 1998 as Will Truman on NBC’s Will & Grace, McCormack has been nominated for multiple Golden Globes and Emmy Awards, and won the Emmy for Lead Actor in a Comedy in 2001. The recipient of a star on Canada’s Walk of Fame and the Hollywood Walk of Fame, McCormack has played lead roles in dozens of films and TV series. Most recently, he completed three seasons of the all-Canadian Netflix hit Travelers, serving as a director, producer and star, and receiving a 2019 Canadian Screen Award nomination.

Eric and his wife, Janet Holden, are actively involved in numerous charitable organizations, including the Elton John AIDS Foundation, the Canadian Cancer Society, the Rape Foundation and the ASPCA. He has performed his one-man show The Concert I Never Gave… (except for, like, 2,000 times in my bedroom) in Toronto, Vancouver and Los Angeles, raising money for Stand Up 2 Cancer, ReThink Breast Cancer and Prostate Cancer Canada, for which he is a spokesperson.

Date: Tuesday, June 30
Time: 1:00–1:30 p.m.

Info: Grab a coffee and join President Lachemi and Chancellor Fukakusa while they answer questions from graduates and offer some inspirational words and advice. This event is limited to graduating students, registration is required.
