Academic Procession

Faculty members are encouraged to join the Academic Procession for their program’s convocation ceremony. If you are attending, it is important that you fill out the google formAcademic Procession Sign-Up Form so we may plan accordingly.

Information for Spring Convocation

In keeping with the Ryerson tradition, any faculty or staff member who has a family member graduating is welcome to congratulate them on stage. This has created very special memories for many Ryersonians throughout the years. Please fill out the google formConvocation Family Presentation Sign-Up Form.

If you register for a family presentation, you will be asked to join the Academic Procession and to sit on stage for the duration of the ceremony. Please see above regarding Regalia.

Faculty are marshaled for the Academic Procession on the third floor of the Mattamy Athletic Centre . Please arrive 45 minutes before the start of the ceremony. View the external,current covocation schedule to check your availability

Black academic gowns are required for all Academic Procession participants and are supplied by the university. On the day of your ceremony, these gowns will be available on the third floor of the Mattamy Athletic Centre .  Give yourself enough time to sign-out your gown and be in the marshaling area in time. There will be coatracks provided, however, this is in an area that cannot be secured, so please leave all valuables in your office.

Academic hoods are the responsibility of the individual faculty member. If you would like to wear a hood you can purchase one at external,harcourts.com or external,imperialrobes.com. Wearing a hood is not required but does add to the “splendor” of the Academic Procession.

All faculty and staff are encouraged to sign up to volunteer at Convocation. Each ceremony requires between 50-60 people behind the scenes! If you are interested, please view the Volunteer page for more information.

Faculty are marshaled for the Academic Procession in Kerr Hall North. Faculty will be made aware of exact meeting location closer to the day of their ceremony.
