University Operations

  • Ryerson University will be shifting to an essential services model on our campus, effective Wednesday, March 18.
  • All classes have shifted online and to other alternative formats.
  • Campus services are reducing hours and staff, moving online, or closing to focus on the health and well-being of all community members.
  • To ensure the safety of all community members, Ryerson is closing the following spaces:
    • Ryerson Library
    • SLC + SLC Starbucks
    • All Zones
    • Campus Bookstore
    • Duplication & Printing Services
    • Coffee kiosks across campus
    • All Athletics & Recreation facilities (RAC, MAC and Kerr Hall), programs and services are now closed until April 6.
  • If you need to enter a building, please contact your department and Ryerson Security to discuss whether access may be granted under exceptional circumstances.
  • The SLC is closed until further notice. All events and tablings in the Amphitheatre have been cancelled until the end of April; please visit SLC updates for the latest information.
  • To help reduce the spread of COVID-19, we have made the difficult decision to require all students in Pitman Hall (PIT), the Daphne Cockwell Complex (DCC), and the International Living & Learning Centre (ILC) to move out of residence as soon as possible, but no later than Monday, March 23, 2020 at 5 p.m., excluding those with exceptional circumstances (i.e. international students and out-of-province students who will need extra time to move out).
  • Food Services continues to operate and provide meals to residents. In the interest of the health and safety of our residents and staff, we are implementing significant changes to our daily operations. As of Monday, March 30, Food Services has implemented a pre-ordered takeout model for students continuing to live in residence.
    • Food Services has temporarily closed the ILC Dining Hall. The Pitman Dining Hall remains open to students with exceptional circumstances continuing to live in residence. In-house dining has been suspended in the Pitman Dining Hall; guests will be required to receive their meal and exit the dining hall.
    • Students living in residence are required to order a week’s worth of meals by completing the Residence Meal Pick-Up Form. The Form is emailed to students living in residence each week and must be completed by 12 p.m. each Saturday.
    • Pitman Dining Hall will be open for meal pick-up Monday to Sunday at the following times:
      • Breakfast: 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.
      • Lunch: 12 p.m. to 1:30 p.m.
      • Dinner: 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m.
    • Meals in the Pitman Dining Hall will be served to residents in bags containing takeout containers with their meal and pre-packaged cutlery. Meals are served hot and we recommend students eat their meal within two hours of being served or should refrigerate them for later consumption.
    • Upon entering the dining hall, students are asked to join the line and keep a distance of six feet between them and other residents.
    • When a student reaches the front of the line, they must provide their name, residence and room number to Ryerson Eats staff. Students will be required to swipe their OneCard if they have a meal plan or pay by credit card if they do not have a meal plan.
    • Pitman Dining Hall continues to offer vegan, vegetarian, halal and made without gluten options. If you have questions related to dietary considerations or allergens, please email rueats@ryerson.ca.
    • A delivery option is only available for students who are required to self-isolate. If you are self-isolating, please ensure that this has been communicated to Housing and Residence Life staff as they will determine the designated area on your floor where your delivery will be made.

  • We will be providing prorated refunds for residence fees and meal plans to students who vacate Pitman Hall (PIT), the Daphne Cockwell Complex (DCC), and the International Living & Learning Centre (ILC) and move out their belongings by 5:00pm on March 23, 2020.
