Biography:

Kwame Amoateng came to Canada from Ghana when he was eight years old and decided early on he wanted to positively affect people's lives. A 2011 graduate of Ryerson's criminal justice program, he is doing just that in what he describes as his dream job. Amoateng is an RCMP officer stationed in Burnaby, B.C. The intense application process took place more than two years before he got the call to start training in 2012. He never wavered. "After I graduated, I worked in plainclothes security and coached kids' soccer. I wasn't going to give up just because it was tough. The moment I got the call, everything just stopped. It was thrilling. I finally reached what I had been working toward for so long.
