After Graduation

As a graduate, you'll have the professional flexibility to work in a wide range of computing environments. Some launch careers in large corporations, start-ups, public sector or independent consulting. Others continue onto graduate level studies and may pursue a career in academia.

Career Possibilities

Some of our alumni land job offers for technical positions. Others move directly into I.T. management roles. Jobs abound in just about every sector imaginable, such as health, technology, banking, and government.

Roles

Our graduates are equipped for success in a wide variety of positions, including: cybersecurity specialist, full stack developer, software engineer, web application developer, product manager and more.

After my third interview, the engineer from Amazon told me he was surprised by the breadth of my knowledge. The diversity of courses we take at [TMU] and my experience in the competitive programming club prepared me well.

Justin Prajza (BSc ' 17)

Justin graduated from Toronto Met with specializations in Computer Science and Math. He gained hands-on experience working at Rogers and Deloitte through our co-op program. Now, he's back at Toronto Met as a full stack developer at the DMZ where he maintains websites and information systems. "It's an amazing job in an incredibly exciting environment."

Tiffany Rodrigues

Tiffany Rodrigues (BSc '17)

Before coming to Toronto Met, computers were a mysterious black box to Tiffany. Now, the computer science graduate works as an Application Support Specialist at CBC.  As a mature student, she worked hard to bring her technical and math skills up to speed. “The challenge and desire to learn kept me interested. Thanks to the program, I get to experience the magic behind technology on a daily basis.”

 Graduate Studies

Other graduates choose to continue their studies. Our department offers both Masters and PhD programs in Computer Science. These programs can lead to advanced, progressive working roles or to a career in academia.

Even after you finish your degree program, you still have access to services at the Career & Co-op Centre for five years after graduation. Take advantage of ongoing guidance as you launch your career.
