Copyright Guidelines

When making use of DMP facilities, and/or employing DMP staff to assist in the production, or distribution of electronic or printed materials, all clients are reminded that the DMP is bound by copyright law.

We would ask that all source materials, such as music, video, photographs, journal articles, be accompanied by written copyright clearance, where applicable. We regret we cannot commence work with materials from outside sources, unless accompanied by proof of copyright clearance.

Toronto Metropolitan University experts

Digital copyright is not the grey area some people may think it is. Without copyright clearance it is rare to be within the law if you are distributing digital materials via a website or D2L course.

Colleagues in the Toronto Metropolitan University Library can provide further information and help you with obtaining copyright permissions.

Practical Approaches to Digital Copyright

The following resources were prepared by staff from the Toronto Metropolitan University Library and DMP, to complement the Practical Approaches to Digital Copyright taster session. For further information, especially regarding the use and distribution of materials acquired through the Library, refer to the copyright section of the Library website.
