Joe Aversa

Bio: Joe Aversa has been an Instructor and Academic Coordinator in the Department of Geography and Environmental Studies since 2010. He obtained a Master’s degree in Spatial Analysis from Ryerson University and is currently working on completing his PhD (ABD) at Wilfrid Laurier University. His research is predominantly focused on retail location planning and spatial ‘Big Data’. Prior to joining the Department of Geography and Environmental Studies, Joe worked as a Research Analyst at the Centre for the Study of Commercial Activity (CSCA). His responsibilities included maintaining the retail spatial database as well as reporting on the corporate strategies of Canada’s Leading Retailers.

Frances Gunn

Bio: Dr. Frances Gunn is an Associate Professor with the Ted Rogers School of Retail Management.  She is the founding President of the Canadian Retail Education Association and the current TRSM Learning and Teaching Chair.   Her research interests include the integration of experiential learning in retail management education, retail innovation and the professionalization of retail management careers.  Prior to becoming a full-time faculty member, Frances provided public and private organizations with education and training programs through her independent consulting firm for over twenty-five years.
