We want to make sure that applicants for staff/administrative positions have a full understanding of why we’re asking you to provide this information and how it will be used.

Only authorized staff within Human Resources and the Office of the Vice-President Equity and Community Inclusion will have access to individual responses. 

Aggregated/combined data may be shared with hiring managers and committees and those involved in supporting equitable and inclusive recruitment and selection processes and related activities. 

Where appropriate, Human Resources staff may share individual self-identification information with those making decisions about which applicants will progress through the hiring process for specific jobs.

Additionally, all candidates have the option to complete the survey for Applicant Diversity Self-ID each time an application is submitted for a position. Please note that if you have already submitted a survey with a previous application, your responses will be automatically added to your current application unless you redo the survey.

Unfortunately, survey responses cannot be edited once they have been submitted. If you wish to make changes to your responses, please contact the university’s human resources and equity coordinator at emequity@torontomu.ca

Submitting the Applicant Diversity Self-ID is voluntary and you will only be prompted to complete it once you’ve submitted your application. Your application will be accepted regardless of whether or not you complete the survey.

Access to the candidate's answers are limited to a small group. If you require accommodation to participate in the recruitment process, please advise the Human Resources representative who contacts you to coordinate the interview.

Following TMU's data retention schedule, survey results will be kept for three years and then destroyed.

Additional questions for internal applicants

The Applicant Diversity Self-ID is not linked to the Employee Diversity Self-ID. As such, internal applicants who are applying for positions will be prompted to complete the Applicant Diversity Self-ID.

The Applicant Diversity Self-ID is not linked to the Employee Diversity Self-ID, so results are not transferred between the two surveys.

Faculty

At this time, the Applicant Diversity Self-ID is only implemented for staff/administrative recruitment. Implementation for faculty recruitment is currently under consideration by the Office of the Vice-Provost, Faculty Affairs. More information will be available in the future.
