I graduated from Wilfrid Laurier University with a Bachelor of Arts in English and Psychology in 2000 and went on to earn a Bachelor of Education from the University of Western Ontario in 2001. A passion for working with early learners led me to also complete an Early Childhood Education Diploma through the Accelerated Program at Loyalist College in 2006. Before joining the Early Learning Centre (ELC) in 2012, I worked as a Registered Early Childhood Educator in childcare and as a program facilitator with the federal Community Action Program for Children in the Waterloo Region.
I am passionate about my work with children, families, students and colleagues in the Ryerson community. In 2013, I received a Ryerson Field Educator Award for outstanding mentoring. I also collaborate with colleagues to develop and lead presentations on a variety of topics related to early childhood education. In 2014, I was filmed for the video The Joy of Inquiry. My areas of professional interest include:
Speech and language development.
Children’s mental health.
Integration of music and movement in the curriculum.
The use of photography in educational settings.
