Biography:

I graduated from Ryerson University in 1990, and completed a Family Support Certificate in 1996. I have been teaching at the Early Learning Centre (ELC) for over 25 years and have facilitated a variety of curricula, such as:

  • High/Scope (1990-1995)

  • Multi-age (1995-2002)

  • An inquiry and project-based curriculum.

I collaborated with Roma Chumak-Horbatsch on the Linguistically Appropriate Practice (LAP) pilot project in the Toronto District School Board's Fraser Mustard Early Learning Academy in 2013/14. I am currently engaged in a similar project with the City of Toronto Childcares. In 2013, I was a recipient of the Prime Minister's Award of Excellence in Early Childhood Education in relation to my work with LAP in the ELC.

My areas of professional interest include:

  • Inclusion within a childcare setting.

  • Communication within the organization.

  • Integration of music and movement.

  • Yoga with children.

  • How to support the language lives of children, families, student teachers in an early childhood environment through the implementation of LAP.
