I have held the position of manager of the Gerrard Resource Centre (GRC) since its inception in 1982. This position has enabled me to engage with children from birth to age 12 years and their families. As the manager of the GRC, I oversee a variety of programs and services which include:
A drop-in for families and their young children.
Emergency child care.
Child care information.
A toy lending library.
A consultation program for children with disabilities.
Between 2002 and 2009, I was also responsible for overseeing the management of a Before and After school Program operated by the GRC.
Part of my role at Ryerson University also includes academic coordination of courses offered through the G. Raymond Chang School of Continuing Education focused in the area of family supports and community engagement.
My professional interests lie in the area of innovation in family support practice and the inclusion of children with disabilities. At the same time, how can we as practitioners and professionals impact the wellbeing of all families and children birth to 12 years of age on a daily basis in a variety of early learning environments.
