Distance field placement: Part-time program

Ryerson’s School of Early Childhood Studies offers part-time program students the flexibility to pursue their field education in a way that’s geographically convenient. This means that you can complete your third-year placement course and/or fourth-year placement course in a setting that is outside the boundaries of the distance option map.

Learn more about the distance education field placement, including who is eligible, how to apply and how to choose an appropriate placement site:

To qualify for the distance option, you must complete and submit a proposal that describes the placement program and how it will allow you to achieve your course objectives. Your placement site and residence must be outside the boundaries of the distance option map.

Please choose the proposal form for your placement year:

Submit your proposal by the deadline:

  • December 1, 2017 (for Winter 2018 placements)
  • March 10, 2018 (for Spring 2018 placements)
  • May 19, 2018 (for Summer 2018 placements)

Once your site has been approved, you must provide your distance placement field educator with the link to this Field Education Manual.

Evaluation

You will be evaluated by your field educator at the midterm and at the end of your placement. You will also self-evaluate your own performance at the midterm and at the end of your placement.
