Meet the Team

eLearning at Ryerson supports the planning and development of the strategic direction of eLearning initiatives across Ryerson University. The office is charged with coordinating eLearning initiatives across the university, engaging and consulting with the Ryerson community, and effective implementation approaches.

Wendy Freeman

Wendy Freeman is the Executive Director of The Centre for Excellence in Learning and Teaching and an Associate Professor in the School of Professional Communication, Faculty of Communication and Design. Wendy came to Ryerson University in 1998 as an instructional designer from the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health. She holds an M.Sc. from Syracuse University in instructional design, and a PhD in education from the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education, University of Toronto. Wendy’s research focus is on digital literacy, technology adoption, and technologies for learning.

Nada Savicevic is the Educational Developer/Instructional Design, eLearning at Ryerson. She works with faculty and instructors on the design and development of blended courses that support active learning using best technology-enhanced instructional practices and learning technologies. She also teaches Graphic Design and Design for Mobile Devices in the Arts and Media Program, G. Raymond Chang School. Nada holds a Master of Arts in Interactive Design & Game Development from Savannah College of Art and Design, a Master of Architecture and a Bachelor of Engineering in Architecture from the University of Belgrade.

Sally Goldberg Powell

Sally Goldberg Powell is the Instructional Technologist, eLearning at Ryerson. She works on the design and development of multimedia learning materials for blended and online education and leads production for eLearning projects. She also teaches in Ryerson’s School of Journalism. Previously, Sally was part of RSJ’s technical support team specializing in visual storytelling through video, graphics, motion graphics, and infographic design. From 2018 to 2019, she was also involved in designing and producing several FCAD e-Learning initiatives. Sally holds a Bachelor of Journalism from Carleton University and a Bachelor of Applied Arts from Ryerson’s RTA School of Media.

Mariam Ahmed is an Instructional Designer at the Centre for Excellence in Learning and Teaching, where she supports the design and development of technology-enhanced learning experiences for blended and online courses. Previously, Mariam worked with the Digital Education Strategies team in The G. Raymond Chang School of Continuing Education, where she supported the design and development of blended and online courses and e-learning initiatives, as well as the professional development of instructors. Mariam holds a Master of Educational Technology from the University of British Columbia and a Bachelor of Science from the University of Toronto.

David Arromba is an Instructional Designer at the Centre for Excellence in Learning and Teaching, where he supports the design, development, and implementation of technology-enhanced learning experiences for blended and online courses. Previously, David worked with the inaugural cohort of the Blended Learning Lab initiative and supported faculty and staff with learning technologies in the Faculty of Community Services. David holds a Master of Education from the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education and a Bachelor of Arts from Western University.

Chloe Hazard is a Production Support Specialist at the Centre for Excellence in Learning and Teaching where she produces blended, technology-enhanced learning materials, such as digital audio/video production and editing, web, graphic and interactive design. Previously, as a Ryerson University student, she worked as a Communications Assistant for eLearning, assisting the team in editing material for eLearning projects. Chloe holds a Bachelor of Arts from Ryerson’s RTA School of Media.

Tina Huang, Graphic Design and Multimedia Designer

Tina Huang is a third-year student in RTA: New Media striving to learn more about the world of media art. She has experience in graphic design, photography, and video production. She is a passionate artist who hopes to one day start her own business within the field of media. As a fellow student, she appreciates online resources/learning and wishes to be able to contribute and help the community of online learners. 

Serina Choi
Serina Choi, Video Multimedia Production Assistant

Serina Choi is a third-year student in RTA: Media Production. She has extensive experience in editing, designing, and creating in the Adobe suite. She is excited to expand her skill set as a Video Multimedia Production Assistant for the Department of E-Learning. Serina has been involved with many Ryerson projects in her first-year including theatre companies, magazines, and conferences. As she continues her education, she is always excited to engage in new opportunities. She looks forward to helping improve the student learning experience.

Karlee Reece

Karlee Reece is a fourth-year student in Professional Communications. She has experience in graphic/web design, quality assurance and digital communications. Her enthusiasm for user experience design can easily be applied to virtual learning. Over the last few years, Karlee has been actively involved in the Ryerson community and is always looking for ways to improve the educational experience for students. She looks forward to bringing her own experiences and passion for learning to the eLearning initiatives.
