Message from the Dean

Dr. Thomas A. Duever

Dr. Thomas A. Duever

The role of engineers and architects is at a crucial juncture in our history. Today, the world is relying on these professionals to solve enormous challenges with ground-breaking solutions—from smarter energy grids to life-saving biomedical advancements, to sustainable buildings and infrastructure. In a word, society is looking to engineers and architects for leadership, and it’s the responsibility of universities to prepare them to lead.

It’s an inspiring call to action—one that Toronto Metropolitan University’s Faculty of Engineering and Architectural Science (FEAS) is ready to meet.

At FEAS, we’ve set exciting new goals to ensure the highest quality and excellence in all areas. By attracting influential minds to our talented faculty, our students will have the opportunity to learn from the best in their fields. By focusing on the quality of everything outside of the lab and classroom—such as co-op, experiential learning and counselling—we’re serving the needs of the whole student.

I believe that tomorrow’s leaders are made, not born. As such, FEAS is committed to providing our blueprint for leadership development: an alliance of interdisciplinary learning, technical fluency, life skills, community interaction, and crucial conversations about what leadership means and looks like on campus, in the workplace, and in society at large.

At FEAS, we’re developing the leaders of tomorrow—and we’re looking forward to the future.

"Society is looking to engineers and architects for leadership, and it’s the responsibility of universities to prepare them to lead."
