Planning of hiring needs

Identify your organization’s hiring needs (including duration) by creating job roles and descriptions for the internship position. The position may target a specific area of study or multiple areas.

The position needs to be: 1) relevant to the specified area(s); 2) full time; 3) compensated; 4) provide the student with a rewarding, hands-on experience.

Ideally, this should be completed 4-6 months prior to the student’s starting date.

Advertising co-operative internship jobs

Prepare a job description outlining the student role and responsibilities, in addition to the required skills necessary for the job.

Email the FEAS co-op office to assist you in advertising (posting) your job to students.

Note: If there are no applications upon your first posting, you may re-post a job.

The job will be posted for 1-2 weeks, or based on your specific request as an employer.

Managing student applications and shortlisting job candidates

1) Reviewing applications: Student applications will be accessible by you, the hiring employer.

2) Planning for interviews: As the employer, you may decide to hold students’ interviews on campus or at your premises.

3) Making your selection: After conducting interviews with students, please email the FEAS co-op office with your feedback and decision.

This process will last 2-3 weeks.

Job offer and hiring

Job offer(s) are extended by you, the employer, through a formal job offer and/or contract.

Students have one week to accept your offer of employment.
