Mary (Economou Bailey) Green has been teaching at Ryerson University since 2007. She taught at The American College of Greece (in Athens) for several years, teaching a wide range of courses including capstone courses in Canadian literature and in Classical myth in literature and culture. While teaching in Europe, she received awards from the Sasakawa Foundation and from the International Council for Canadian Studies, and delivered and published several papers in Canadian literature.
For the past few years, Mary has combined her Classics and literary background, and has been concentrating in the area of Classical myth in modern and contemporary contexts. She has presented several papers and published in this area, her most recent paper, “The Odyssey and its Odyssey in Contemporary Texts: Re-visions in Star Trek, The Time Traveler’s Wife, and The Penelopiad” appearing in the "Classics and Contemporary Popular Culture" issue (I.1) of Dialogue: The Interdisciplinary Journal of Popular Culture and Pedagogy (Spring 2014). She is working on two book projects, on the topic of women “re-writing” myth.
