Owner, Carolyn Black Communicates

Carolyn Black has worked in educational publishing for twenty years, helping educators edit and shape digital and print resources. Her current freelance work includes writing e-learning content for Nelson Education and providing publishing and editorial consultation to a Mellon-funded project at Bucknell University. The project is building an online platform that will enable academics to mark-up and publish their work. Before starting her own business in 2020, she worked at the University of Toronto as a digital project manager and managing editor with the REED Project — an internationally renowned publishing and research project dedicated to renaissance and medieval drama. There, she edited print resources for higher education until the project entered the Digital Humanities with its online publishing platform, REED Online. As REED Project Manager, Carolyn managed the transition from print to digital, working in collaboration with academics, programmers, and a UX and design team. She also enhanced the TEI-XML customization, wrote web copy and documentation, and edited and tagged final XML files. See also, external link
