On average, 120 students are admitted to the BA English program each year. This relatively small program size means that students get to know each other, their professors, and the administrative staff who support them through the program. It also means that we can do some innovative things in our program, such as offer hands-on "practicum courses" to groups of 25 students, devise some innovative assignments using digital tools, and involve undergraduate students in faculty research.
Between 20 and 25 students are admitted to the MA program every September. Our relatively small size means that our students get to know each other – and us – very well, and that we actively support your learning in a number of ways. Our students have the choice of pursuing either a Major Research Paper or a Practicum option, in which they gain hands on experience working at one of the city's many literary and cultural institutions.
