Contest details

This year, the theme of Ryerson’s Display Your Pride challenge is sustainable, systemic impact.

Don’t get us wrong—rainbows and balloons are great! Visibility in general is incredibly important. We want you to participate in any way you’re able!

In addition to the fabulous decor, here are some ideas on how you can display your pride with inclusive, educational and sustainable practices.

Environmental sustainability

We’re asking teams and individuals to consider the environmental sustainability of displaying our pride. Please try to decorate with items that are reusable in years to come… or permanent!

Queer contributions

Over the past few years, we’ve noticed incredible effort being made on displays that show the contributions of 2SLGBTQ+ folks in a particular discipline. For example, the Office of the Dean, Faculty of Science highlighted queer scientists throughout history.

Systemic change

We know many offices are making changes to their practices/policies/procedures to be more inclusive of diverse sexual orientations, gender identities and gender expressions. We encourage you to use display your pride to highlight the changes you’ve made and share ideas that other departments could adopt!

This year’s awards

To encourage these themes, our awards this year are:

  • Most Environmentally Sustainable
  • Best Educational Theme
  • Best Team Effort (get your whole team involved!)
  • Most Interactive (Ryerson International last year had a performance and a quiz!)
  • Student’s Choice Award (chosen by RyePride)
  • Fabulous Favourite (overall winner and recipient of the trophy, presented by last year’s winners)

Be sure to register so judges will visit!

To register, please fill out the Display Your Pride Registration form by Friday, June 7 and we’ll contact you to arrange a visit from the judges on Thursday, June 13.
