Around the world, a truckload of plastic waste is dumped into the ocean every minute. Canadians contribute 3 million tonnes of plastic waste each year. As part of Waste Reduction Week in Canada 2019 from October 21 to 25, Ryerson’s Sustainability Office will be on the prowl at the SLC from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. for students caught in the act of using reusable items!
Waste Reduction Week in Canada is October 21 to 25
This event is part of Waste Reduction Week in Canada, external link, a national environmental campaign that builds awareness around issues of sustainable and responsible consumption and practices.
How can I participate?
Play your part and bring your reusable items to school for meals and more in celebration of Waste Reduction Week in Canada.
From October 21 to 25 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., if the Ryerson Sustainability Office team catches you using your own tote bag, reusable cutlery, reusable food containers, thermos you could win a notebook and cutlery set and get featured on Ryerson’s social media! As part of the contest, we will be taking a picture of winners and posting their photos on Instagram and Twitter with hashtag #CaughtInTheActRU. Three prizes will be available each day of the week.
If you have any questions about this event or about Waste Reduction Week at Ryerson, please contact Sharmilla Raj, sustainability coordinator at firstname.lastname@example.org or 416-979-5000, ext. 6273.
