Ryerson International Exchange Opportunity Scholarships (RIEOS)

Supports student participation in an academic exchange with one of Ryerson's 75+ partners during the academic year. 

Amount: $2,000

JOURNALISM

The Anne Goldman Travel Award:

This award was created for students to show their creativity, by submitting a pitch for an investigative story on one but not all of the following topics: families, health, education, the environment, politics, economics, immigration or the disenfranchised. This award aims to offset the cost of travel required to cover a pitch of the story.

Amount: $1,000

Rebel with a Cause Award:

This award will recognize a journalism student who is embarking on a semester of study overseas as part of Ryerson’s exchange program. Eligible students must submit an essay describing their passion for offbeat, irreverent and eclectic approaches to journalism. Instead of a traditional essay, students may submit a 3-5 minute video or photographic essay.

Amount: $1,000

FASHION

The Fashion Magazine Travel Award:

This award is geared towards third-year fashion students with the desire to embark on an International Exchange. The student must have been accepted to go on an international exchange.

George Alatopolus Award in Fashion for International Exchange

To be eligible, students must be accepted to go on international exchange, demonstrate financial need, be enrolled full-time in the Fashion Communication or Fashion Design program, be in clear academic standing and demonstrate overall excellence in their studies with a minimum CGPA of 3.00. Students must submit an application letter demonstrating how they and the school would benefit from the exchange.

Amount: up to $1,500

Roloff Beny Foundation Photography Award:

The Roloff Beny award aims to support students in the photography stream of IMA going an exchange to France or an exchange program through Ryerson University.

Amount: up to $5,000

David & Anna Bulmash Innovation Award for Exchange:

This award is to help a GCM student with the costs of going on exchange to one of our exchange partner universities.

To assist students entering third-year undertaking international exchange studies in the RTA School of Media.

Amount: $1,000

INTERIOR DESIGN 

Ann Le Ber Travel Award:

This award will provide exceptional student experiences, supporting students who wish to undertake study abroad in the School of Interior Design. This includes study abroad courses, exchanges, and independent proposals that meet the School's academic standards.

Amount: Varies from $1000 - $3000

The Peter Rice Tribute Travelling Award must be used for travelling for educational reasons; travel must take place in the summer before the next academic year.

Ontario Universities International is a consortium of Ontario universities participating in four provincial exchange programs in Baden-Württemberg (Germany), Jiangsu (China), Maharashtra, Goa and New Delhi area (India), and Rhône-Alpes (France).

FCAD Passport Fund: 

This fund was created and financed by FCAD in partnership with the Ryerson Communication and Design Society (RCDS) as well as external donors to support students in their global learning opportunities.

International Conferences and Research Support Fund (ICRSF):

Mitacs - Globalink: 

The Mitacs Globalink Research Award provides $6,000 for senior undergraduate and graduate students, and postdoctoral fellows in Canada to conduct 12–24-week research projects at universities overseas. Undergraduate applicants must have completed their second year of studies prior to departure.

Partnership for Change: The RBC Immigrant, Diversity and Inclusion Project

Students may undertake their projects on-campus or work with an external industry or community partner. Projects should include a strong focus on outreach and knowledge mobilization to ensure real-world impacts on policy and practice.

Ryerson International Work Experience Fund (RIWEF):

Supports Ryerson students undertaking unpaid international work experiences of at least 4 weeks in duration.

The award helps cover expenses associated with an out-of-town internship course placement and is given to a student who might not otherwise be able to finance such a placement.

EXTERNAL AWARDS

2019 EU-Canada Young Journalist Fellowship

The EU-Canada Young Journalist Fellowship aims to recognize outstanding journalistic talent among young Canadians. Since 2001, three candidates have been selected every year to participate in a week-long study tour to experience the EU institutions, the Canadian Mission to the EU, and media outlets in Brussels. Winners will also attend the daily European Commission press briefing. All expenses are paid for by the European Union Delegation to Canada. Winners will also benefit from a one-year CAJ membership or one-year CAJ membership renewal.
