The School of Occupational and Public Health has received new commitments totaling $25,000 from Craig Fairclough, Satheesh Somalingam and Ramesh Somalingam to endow the Craig Fairclough Black Students Award in Occupational Health and Safety.

Fairclough, Occupational Health and Safety ‘96, and adjunct professor at the school, established the award in March 2020 with an initial gift of $10,000. As an alumnus, instructor, and industry professional, Fairclough saw a need for more representation in the field’s profession and education. This award seeks to encourage Black students in the program, remove barriers in pursuit of their goals, and recognize those who give back to the surrounding community.
