Accreditations and Institutional Memberships

Professional accreditation is a means of testing and evaluating graduate educational programs and recognizing those that meet the required standards in preparing graduates for professional practice. Because its mandate is the provision of applied professional education, over the past decade the University has given priority to obtaining accreditation of its programs wherever applicable. As a result, accrediting bodies provide input to the development of curriculum in a number of TMU programs.

Professional accreditations

The professional master’s diploma in Accounting is accredited by CPA Ontario (external link)  and will allow students to fulfil the Core and Elective components of CPA Professional Education Program (PEP). Upon successful completion of the program, students can move directly to the CPA PEP Capstone modules and, ultimately, write the National Common Final Examination (CFE).

Both the master's and PhD programs in Physics, which offer an option in medical physics, have earned full accreditation from the Commission on Accreditation of Medical Physics Educational Programs (CAMPEP) (external link)

Ryerson’s PDEP Accredited Practicum (external link)  — of the MHSc in Nutrition Communication program — enables graduates of accredited Canadian undergraduate nutrition programs to qualify to write the Canadian Dietetic Registration Exam and if successful, become dietitians. This is a professional program that leads to entry to a regulated health profession.

The Ted Rogers MBA is accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB). The AACSB provides internationally-recognized, specialized accreditation for business and accounting programs.

The School of Urban and Regional Planning’s two-year Urban Development (MPl) program is recognized by the Canadian Institute of Planners (CIP) (external link) . The accreditation means graduates have a shorter time frame required in becoming full members. This program is also accredited by the Ontario Professional Planners Institute (OPPI).
