First-Year: How to Apply

Check your email weekly!

Throughout the residence application period you will receive frequent courtesy emails with reminders and information.

1. Receive University Offer
  • Before applying make sure you have received a full or conditional undergraduate offer to Ryerson University.
2. Research Buildings, Fees, and Application Priorities
  • Research the residence buildings, room styles & fees
  • Application priorities

    We prioritize on-time applications based on the following two categories:

    1. Year at Ryerson (Top: 1st year students)
    2. Distance (Top: Farthest distance away)

Late applications are placed on the bottom of the waiting list.

3. Apply Online
  • The 2020-2021 residence application opens on January 6, 2020
  • Deadline is June 1, 2020 (application and $50 application fee payment)
  • Accessibility Accommodation Requests Deadline June 1, 2020
  • Once the application opens: Create an eRezLife account and submit your online application

4. Pay the $50 Application Fee
  • Application will not be considered complete until the fee is paid
  • Check out the payment options available
  • Deadline is June 1, 2020 (application and $50 application fee payment)
5. Waiting Period For Assignments

Assignment Period

  • Waiting period June 2- July 3, 2020
  • Room assignments are being made
  • If you apply after the deadline you will be placed at the end of the waiting list
6. Receive Email

Residence Offers

  • Offers are sent out July 3, 2020
  • Email will arrive late afternoon/evening
7. Respond to Your Offer

Accept Residence Offer

Accept residence offers & select meal plan

  • Deadline June 24, 2020
  • Select meal plan and accept residence offer both through eRezLife


Pay first installment fee

  • Acceptance is not complete until fee is paid
  • Deadline June 24, 2020
  • Pay fees as outlined in your residence offer
  • If paying near a deadline send proof of payment to Housing & Residence Life

Decline residence offer

  • Decline offer on eRezLife
  • You will only receive one offer, if you choose to decline this offer and apply again you will be placed at the bottom of the waiting list

Waiting List

  • If there are more on-time applicants than there are available spaces in residence a residence waiting list will be created using the application priority sequence
  • Late applicants are placed at the bottom of the waiting list by the date they completed their application
  • During the summer more rounds of offers will be sent out by email
  • To be taken off the waiting list, email with your name and student number
8. Move into Residence
  • Move in Day August 30th and 31st, 2020 (DCC, ILC, and PIT)
  • At the beginning of August you will receive an email with official move in information
