Co-op Housing Program - Application Info and Cost

Participating a summer co-op/ internship and looking for an affordable housing option in Toronto?

Come live with us in one of the three selected Ryerson's Residence.

Rent starts from $850/month, any students enrolled in a post-secondary institution and participating a summer co-op/ internship can stay—this price includes internet, hydro, and all utilities!

Lease from May 1st to August 22th, 2020. Monthly option available!

All three residences are located in downtown Toronto. Close proximity to the Financial district and less than a ten minute walk to Dundas subway station, the Eaton Centre shopping mall and many major tourist attractions.

Apply to secure your spot and take the guess work out of finding a place to live in Toronto for the summer- stay in Ryerson residence.

Please note:  There is a different cost for each room style.  Please double check the residence fees for each room style, so you can factor them into your budget.

Room Styles

Pitman Hall  (PIT): Single Room with Shared Washroom

PIT features single bedrooms with shared hallway bathrooms. Bathrooms located adjacent to the rooms are shared by up to 6 other guests.

Daphne Cockwell Residence (DCC): Single Room in a Four-Bedroom Apartment

DCC features apartment-style bedrooms with shared bathroom within the unit. There will be four students sharing two three-piece baths, a snack prep area and a lounge in each apartment. Each student has their own room (with lock).

International Living Learning Center (ILC): Single Room With Private Washroom

ILC features private bedrooms and en-suite bathrooms.

Where and How to Apply

1. Submit an Application Request
The 2020 Co-op Housing Application is now open. Click to apply now

2. Email Acceptance
Co-op spaces are offered on a first come, first serve basis. Please allow up to 7 business days for processing. 

3. Deposit
When your application is accepted, an acceptance letter with payment link and due date will be sent to you for rent deposit.

The application is considered complete only if the deposit is received before the due date.

4. Offer of Accomodation
Once rent deposit is received, student will receive an offer of accommodation.



Please note: The 4-months housing applications receive priority. Single-month housing applications will begin to receive offers in March 2020. 


Rent Deposit

A $200 non-refundable rent deposit is required within one week after the application is accepted. 

The deposit will be used towards the last month room rent.  


Room rent is tax exempted; internet/ hydro/ utilities included.

The 4-months housing applications receive priority.
Single-month housing applications will begin to receive offers on March 10, 2020. 

Rent period starts from the first day to the last day of the month.

Resident is responsible in paying half month rent if arriving during the 3rd and 4th week (after the 14th day of the month). 

  • Rent deposit is $200 and is due at acceptance.
  • The first month room rent is due on April 1,2020 online via the payment link. 
  • The subsequent rent will be due on the 1st day of every month in person at the Residence Service Desk. 
  • Apply the rent deposit of $200 towards the last month rent. 
  • A $50 late fee applies if rent is overdue for 5 days. 


The desk accepts Visa, MasterCard, American Express, Interac Debit and Canadian cash only. The cardholder must be under the resident’s name, otherwise the cardholder must be present onsite to make the payment.

Roommate Request


We accept roommate requests on the residence application form. It is your responsibility to ensure that all individuals indicate their wish to be roommates. This is only a request, however, and we do not guarantee that every request will be granted; we reserve the right to pair students outside of the roommate request into the same suite.


Residence Agreement

The Residence Agreement is a legal document that you must read and agree on before moving into residence. It covers important information about residence such as move-in, and move-out dates, application deadlines and instructions, and fee deadlines.

Cancellation Policy
There are different cancellations/withdrawal fees depending on the time a student chooses to cancel/withdraw.
  • Application Cancellations prior to May 1, 2020 - students will forfeit the $200 non-refundable deposit.

  • Residence Withdrawal between May 1, 2020 and May 8, 2020 - students are subject to the $400 withdrawal fee.

  • Residence Withdrawals (in the first seven days of the month) - students are subject to the $400 withdrawal fee and rent for any previous months lived in residence - not including the current month.

  • Residence Withdrawals (after the seventh day of the month) - students are subject to the $400 withdrawal fee, the current month's rent, and rent for any previous months lived in residence.
