TMU’s commitment to the wellbeing of our employees comes to life through a number of resources designed to help you both in your personal and professional lives. 

Support available through Workplace Wellbeing Services

HR’s Workplace Wellbeing Services team is committed to strengthening Toronto Metropolitan University as a healthy, diverse, inclusive and equitable workplace. To help create a culture where all employees can bring their whole selves to work, the team can:

  • provide information, guidance and support to leaders and employees when an employee experiences a health-related issue that may result in short or long term sick leave;
  • work with leaders, employees, unions and human resources to identify, implement and monitor accommodation plans for employees with disabilities;
  • provide resources that support employee wellbeing and healthy workplaces; and,
  • provide trauma informed support for TMU staff and faculty affected by sexual violence and other forms of gender based violence.

TMU’s Employee and Family Assistance Program (EFAP)

TMU’s Employee and Family Assistance Program (EFAP), through Telus Health is a confidential and voluntary support service that is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week.  The EFAP can help you solve all kinds of problems and challenges in your life. The program is administered by Telus Health and services are entirely anonymous. Neither HR nor supervisors are privy to information regarding who has accessed the program.

Gerstein Crisis Centre

Gerstein crisis services include 24/7 telephone support, in-person mobile crisis team, community support referrals, substance use crisis management, follow-up and access to short-term crisis beds.

Student Wellbeing encompasses a variety of health, wellbeing, and academic services and supports at Toronto Metropolitan University (TMU).

Good2Talk

Good2Talk is a free, confidential and anonymous service, offering post-secondary students 24/7 professional counselling, mental health information and connection to local resources.
