Flexible Work Arrangements
Flexible work arrangements are proven to increase employee engagement, productivity, satisfaction and quality of work. Beyond this, they are in line with our commitment to a people first workplace that includes equity, diversity and inclusion as part of its DNA.
Approving flexible work arrangements
While flexible work arrangements are encouraged, in many cases unit operational requirements may not allow for a manager to approve a flexible work arrangement. Examples of such situations may include:
- working at a front desk and required to be physically be present in the workplace;
- work cannot be done outside of the workplace;
- peak periods during which the employee needs to be at work; or
- request can only be granted for a partial period of time so that another employee can also benefit from the same arrangement.
Please note that it is a leader’s discretion whether to approve or deny an employee's request. Leaders should document approved requests in writing using the tools and templates provided.
