Free Self-Defence Classes
Ryerson Security and Emergency Services invites you to sign up for FREE self-defence classes on campus. Sessions are designed to raise awareness, reduce the risk of crime and provide basic hands-on defence training (participation in the physical activities is optional). Participants will be empowered with the skills to help defend themselves and deescalate aggressive behaviour.
Duration: Throughout the year, stretched over 3-4 days (approximately 9-12 hours)
Location: Ryerson campus
Audience: Free to all community members (minimum 2 participants)
All ages and gender identities welcome
Classes are generally scheduled separately for those who identify as women or those who identify as men. At Ryerson we respect everyone’s right to self-identify. Participants are invited to choose the session that is most comfortable for them.

Basic Physical Defence for Men
This program is designed to empower participants to make safer choices when confronted with aggressive behavior and provide the basics of hands-on defense training. Class are available to people who identify as men of all ages and abilities.
There are no upcoming basic physical defence classes for men scheduled. Please email us for more information.
