“There’s power in allowing yourself to be known and heard, in owning your unique story, in using your authentic voice. And there’s grace in being willing to know and hear others.”— Michelle Obama
Hoping peace finds us all, wherever the sun rises. And that we'll have used it for justice by sunset. Onwards.
Never let the fear of striking out keep you from playing the game.
"You still have a lot of time to make yourself be what you want." - S.E. Hinton, 𝘛𝘩𝘦 𝘖𝘶𝘵𝘴𝘪𝘥𝘦𝘳𝘴
"The most common way people give up their power is by thinking they don't have any." -Alice Walker
I've done it. I've become the news.
May the years to come be as good as the years that we just finished.
"If you want to know what lies in your future, create it."
God has been so GOOD to me these past four years. I made the best friends of my life here. I fell in love with downtown Toronto, I learned to be a great journalist, I grew more into the person I was made to be. I asked big questions, I failed and tried again, I did things my younger self wouldn't have believed. I'm proud of us, class of 2020. YJ
"We are told that our newspapers are irreverent, coarse, vulgar, and ribald. I hope that this irreverence will last forever; that we shall always show irreverence for royalties and titled creatures born into privilege, and all that class which take their title from anything but merit." -Mark Twain
Piece of advice: “Wikipedia is the best thing ever. Anyone in the world can write anything they want about any subject. So you know you are getting the best possible information.” - Michael Scott
Get up, dress up, show up, and never give up.
Four years later and I can't write a yearbook quote *plays Ribs by Lorde*
“For I have learned that every heart will get what it prays for most." - Hafiz
“There’s a lot of beauty in ordinary things. Isn’t that kind of the point?” – Pam Beesly
Say why, do we have to say goodbye.
Say when, will we ever meet again.
Say where, and I'll meet you right there
Say why, say when, say where.
-Girl Guide song
Long time human, first time being!
"Someday, when you get where you’re going, you will look around and you will know — it was you, and the people who love you, who put you there. And that will be the greatest feeling in the world." — Taylor Swift

Wanna see a picture of my dog?
I remember in first year I thought I was a journalism fraud because I forgot to capitalize the 'D' in McDonald's and got that fail warning. I thought my whole career was over, but here I am four years later, graduating not only with the ability to spell McDonald's correctly, but with so many new skills and friendships that'll last a lifetime.
"What if it doesn't come true? Ah, but what if it does." - Amber Scholl
". . . an arid gloom fleeted; and amidst the dust, and the falling things, and the flapping scenery, Cincinnatus made his direction where, to judge by the voices, stood beings akin to him" - last line to "Invitation to a Beheading" by Vladimir Nabokov
Shoutout to the big homie Jesus.
“Everybody is identical in their secret unspoken belief that way deep down they are different from everyone else.” - David Foster Wallace
I started this journey with Christ & ended with Him. It wasn’t easy — I didn’t expect it to be. Looking back four years later, I realized all my wounds turned into beautiful scars. If I could go back to my first day at Frosh Week to my last day as a Jschool student, I’d do it again. That to say, never give up. I promise you it’s all worth it.
I learned a lot, but I never learned how to use PaperCut.
You can please some of the people all of the time, you can please all of the people some of the time, but you can’t please all of the people all of the time. - John Lydgate
"When you get these jobs that you have been so brilliantly trained for, just remember that your real job is that if you are free, you need to free somebody else. If you have some power, then your job is to empower somebody else." - Toni Morrison
Thank you to all of the professors, instructors and students for making the past four years incredible. I am grateful for the memories we have made and I know every single one of you will be successful in whatever career path you pursue. I also want to thank Yusra Javed for being the bright light that she was, I will forever cherish our friendship.

Despite the journey, we made it to the destination! I'm thrilled to be finally graduating with everyone and loved every minute at Ryerson University. Congratulations, Class of 2020!
I am so grateful for all the lifelong friends I've made at RSJ, and the faculty that have supported us along the way! I will, however, forever be haunted by the capital 'F' in BuzzFeed.
Rest at the end not in the middle. We got Love for the Loved Ones and Hate for the Haters.
“We shall not cease from exploration. And the end of all our exploring. Will be to arrive where we started. And know the place for the first time.”- T.S. Eliot
