Lincoln100 event, January 21, 2022

This January 21, 2022 marks the 100th anniversary of Lincoln M. Alexander's birth.

Born in 1922 to immigrant parents from the West Indies, the Honourable Lincoln Alexander served our country as a member of the Royal Canadian Air Force, lawyer, public servant and leader. Mr. Alexander was the first Black person to be elected to Canada's House of Commons, to serve as a federal Cabinet Minister, and to be appointed as Lieutenant Governor of Ontario, where he played a key role in promoting diversity, championing education, and advancing youth leadership. For his contributions, Mr. Alexander was appointed to the Order of Ontario and became a Companion to the Order of Canada in 1992.
