You are history-makers! The Lincoln Alexander School of Law at Ryerson University is Canada’s newest law school and one that is dedicated to innovation, equity and access, at a critical and challenging time in world history. As legal pioneers you will set a new precedent for what it means to be a lawyer.
As your Assistant Dean of Student Programming, Development and Equity, I am committed to working with you to make your law school experience an impactful, memorable, and enriching one. We want to build a community of support for you and create a strong network of peers that will carry you through your studies with us and into your career.
We are living in uncertain times where inequity and injustice are at the forefront of people’s thoughts and daily realities. We will equip you to contribute meaningfully to building a better, safer, and more equitable future. Through the integrated practice curriculum at Ryerson Law, you will be given the opportunity to not only apply legal theory to practice, but also to create innovative solutions for today’s legal problems. We will work with you to change the practice of law as we know it, to meet the needs of our evolving socio-economic and political landscape, and to increase access to justice in every area of law, politics and business in which you will work. What you learn at Ryerson Law will equip you to make transformative contributions to the communities in which you live.
You have been chosen to do this important work, and I strongly believe that there is no better time than now to embark on this groundbreaking journey.
I am looking forward to meeting each of you, both virtually and, soon enough, in-person. Together, we can make Ryerson Law a leader in equity, innovation, and excellence in the legal community in Canada and beyond.
