Arabic Pathway

Once you have taken the Placement Test, you will know your language proficiency level. Your first course is the one listed for your score in the Score Guide. Students will then progress through the levels, as below.

It is not possible to go backwards on the pathway, to courses of lower difficulty. 

Prerequisites vary, and are listed in the Undergraduate calendar. 

 

INTRODUCTORY LEVEL

  • ARB 101: Introductory Arabic I
                   
                         ⬇︎
  • ARB 201: Introductory Arabic II
                           OR
 
  • ARB 300: Principles in Arabic Writing

    *Students at the Introductory level will take ARB 300 OR ARB 101/201, per their test score

 

INTERMEDIATE LEVEL

  • ARB 301: Intermediate Arabic I               

                         ⬇︎
  • ARB 401: Intermediate Arabic II                         

                         ⬇︎
  • ARB 402: Arabic Conversation and Pronunciation

       *ARB 402 may be taken concurrently with ARB 401 or ARB 501. Students are not eligible for ARB 402 after completing ARB 501.

 

ADVANCED LEVEL

  • ARB 501: Advanced Arabic I

  • ARB 601: Advanced Arabic II
