Biography

Nick is a hybrid creative practitioner concentrating on meaningful communication through creative innovation, storytelling and design.

He is currently the Creative Director of The Juggernaut; a leading design and animation studio that services the vast majority of advertising agencies operating in Canada; media broadcasters; and both domestic and international brands. Nick is also an Associate Professor at OCADU’s Faculty of Design where he teaches a wide range of courses that deal with digital media, applied arts and branded storytelling.

As one of Canada’s early adopters of interactive executions in cinema and through continued research and development of properties for emergent media, Goso remains experimental with narrative forms and applications of interactive media. Having spent a decade working in a senior capacity at several leading advertising agencies and commercial production studios, in both Canada and Western Europe – he now hopes to bridge his expertise as a design practitioner with a scholarship in digital media by pursuing a Master’s in Digital Media from The Yeates School of Graduate Studies at Toronto Metropolitan University.

In stark contrast to this – he is actually a very fun guy who loves being a daddy, skateboarding, scary heavy metal music and is almost always accompanied by a sweet, little pitbull named Laika.

Why Digital Media?

Goso has always had a keen interest in digital media and its collision with traditional media platforms, producers and audiences – his continued interest in studying transmedia communication and convergent media culture with the support of Ryerson’s MDM program, The DMZ and the Transmedia Zone, he hopes to realize a major applied project; the development of a commercial publishing company that produces traditional and digital content; a proprietary gestural-guided-view technology for the dissemination and consumption of the work; and an initial, existential science-fiction comic-book saga, entitled OVAL.

Research

Major Research Project: "Hypermodal Publishing in Graphic Narratives"

New and under-used technological innovations in tangible and embedded interaction offer novel opportunities for integrating hyper modal physical/digital publications. This MRP aims to launch a graphic narrative publishing company specializing in hyper modal physical-digital properties that maintain a singular story world across media, while still allowing affordances specific to each.
