Biography

Kaylie got her first taste of the startup world in 2012 when she worked with a small but growing company in the automotive industry. During her final year in the business management program at Ryerson, Kaylie delivered the winning pitch at the 2014 Slaight Business Plan Competition to secure herself and her Co-Founder, Allison Rhodes, their first round of funding to launch their software startup. Her focus is now on Kahoots, the online platform for project sharing and recruiting, where she takes the role of Director of Business Development. Her team is currently working out of Ryerson Futures in the Digital Media Zone.

Kaylie’s also passionate about raising the standard of living of those less fortunate. Her long-term plans include starting a non-profit with the goal of working internationally towards food security, rural development, poverty alleviation, and citizen empowerment.

Why Digital Media?

Running a software startup, Kaylie recognizes the benefit it having a well-rounded perspective of the software development process. She’ll spend her time in the MDM program gaining a better understanding of both design and development, while applying new business concepts to Kahoots.
