Employment

Social Insurance Number (SIN)

In order to earn an income in Canada, an individual requires a Social Insurance Card (SIN). A SIN card is a 9-digit number that allows you to find employment opportunities as well as file your taxes. You can apply for your SIN card in person or by mail. It is highly recommended that you apply in person as the turnaround time is much quicker and you will be notified right away If you are missing any critical documents. 

Weather

Ontario has four seasons and the clothing required for each of them is very different:

Spring
(March – June)

Rainy season; umbrella and raincoat recommended. Temperatures range between 5℃ and 24℃.

Summer 
(June – September)

Can be hot and humid, ranging from 20℃ to 35℃+; hydration and sunscreen is a must

Fall
(September - December)

Temperature begins to fall, ranging between 5℃ and 20℃; light sweaters are recommended

(December - March)

Temperature can dip below -30℃; appropriate clothing such a down jacket is a must to combat the harsh weather
