Mechanical Undergraduate Scholarships & Awards

Each year, Toronto Metropolitan University and the Faculty of Engineering and Architectural Science (FEAS) offer numerous entrance scholarships to incoming students who are accepted into an engineering program. The university and the Department of Mechanical, Industrial, and Mechatronics Engineering also offer awards for students who continue studies in their respective programs after first year. There are unique eligibility criteria for each of the entrance scholarships and the awards available to current students. More information on this can be found below.

(Winter 2024) Toromont Industries Ltd. Award:  The application period for current fourth year undergraduate students of the Mechanical Engineering program will be from Monday February 5, 2024 to Friday February 23, 2024. 

2023/2024 AwardSpring (external link)  Cycle is now closed: The application period for current undergraduate students was from September 25, 2023 to October 16, 2023.

You'll be automatically matched with all scholarships and awards relevant to you and for which you're eligible, and there is no additional application required. The department will contact you if you're selected for any of these.

Scholarship/Award Name Description/Eligibility Criteria

Arno M. Dickertmann Memorial Award

This award is in memory of Arno M. Dickertmann who would have been very pleased to assist deserving undergraduate students in Mechanical Engineering at Toronto Metropolitan University. Note: successful candidates must have completed and attained the highest GPA in the two compulsory materials courses MTL200 in Year 1 and MTL300 in Year 3.

Canadian Congress of Applied Mechanics Awards

The Canadian Congress of Applied Mechanics Awards provide two awards to students who have demonstrated academic achievement in the study of either Thermofluids or Solid Mechanics courses.

Canadian Society for Mechanical Engineering Award

The Canadian Society for Mechanical Engineering Award is awarded for outstanding academic achievement on the completion of the first year of the Mechanical Engineering program as evidenced by a minimum CGPA of 3.00.

CSME Student Gold Medal Award

The CSME Student Gold Medal is awarded for outstanding academic achievement in the Mechanical Engineering program by a student who has completed third year.

Department of Mechanical, Industrial, and Mechatronics Engineering Achievement Award

The Department of Mechanical, Industrial, and Mechatronics Engineering Achievement Award is awarded to a Mechanical Engineering student and an Industrial engineering student for outstanding academic achievement.

Dugald Cameron Memorial Award

The Dugald Cameron Memorial Award is awarded to a student for high academic standing and entrepreneurial activity combined with an innovative and creative approach to the program.

Jack Roy Longstaffe Memorial Scholarship

The Jack Roy Longstaffe Memorial Scholarship is awarded to a student for outstanding performance throughout the first three years of the degree program.

Mechanical Engineering Alumni Awards

The Mechanical Engineering Alumni Awards recognize students for outstanding academic performance as determined by the Cumulative Grade Point Average.

Michael Poczo Jr. Memorial Awards

The Michael Poczo Jr. Memorial Awards recognize students for their academic achievement, entrepreneurial thought, leadership and drive.

North American Die Casting Association Chapter 10 Ontario Award

The North American Die Casting Association Chapter 10 Ontario Award recognizes the academic achievement of a student who has a demonstrated interest in metal casting.

Robert K. Baxter Memorial Award

The Robert K. Baxter Memorial Award recognizes a student who has achieved academic excellence and high grades in Thermofluids courses.

Robotics International/Society of Manufacturing Engineers Award

The Robotics International/Society of Manufacturing Engineers Award recognizes a Mechanical Engineering student and an Industrial Engineering student for their academic excellence.

TMU General Scholarship The TMU General Scholarship is awarded to Mechanical, Industrial, and Mechatronics Engineering students with high academic performance after completion of the third year of the program.
Toromont Industries Ltd. Award The Toromont Industries Ltd. Award is awarded to a fourth year student of the Mechanical Engineering program who has demonstrated academic excellence with a minimum CGPA of 3.30 and who is completing a capstone design project in the areas of thermofluids, solids and design, or manufacturing.
