The Bell Has Tolled: Ryerson Students Unofficially Smash Record For Largest Cowbell Ensemble
TORONTO, August 30, 2017 --- It’s official, almost. Today 670 Ryerson University students, faculty and staff unofficially broke the Guinness World record for the largest cowbell ensemble!
Members of Ryerson’s orientation team, Ryerson Students’ Union and university staff greeted the enthusiastic crowd of mostly first-year students who gathered on the campus quad before the challenge got underway. In the quad, enthusiastic participants rang cowbells en masse for over two minutes, unofficially breaking the previous external, record that was set in Switzerland by 640 participants in 2009.
This is Ryerson’s eleventh annual Guinness World Record Challenge, and it is a highlight of Orientation Week for many first-year students. Previous Guinness World Record challenges at Ryerson include the most people simultaneously blowing chewing gum bubbles, most people yo-yoing en masse, the most people controlling paddle balls, and the largest soul train dance.
