Join Heather Willis and Nicola Di Capua in a short film presentation and discussion of "Step Into My World."
"Step Into My World" is a short documentary by independent Canadian filmmaker Nicola Di Capua that brings awareness to daily challenges D/deaf and hard of hearing individuals experience in daily life. Di Capua is a passionate advocate for the inclusion and accessibility of D/deaf and hard of hearing communities.
Following a screening of the short film "Step Into My World," Willis will be joined by the film's creator, Nicola Dicapua, for a facilitated discussion.
Heather Willis joined Ryerson University in 2010 as Ryerson’s first-ever accessibility co-ordinator. Willis has been an advocate in the area of accessibility and improving the lives of persons with disabilities since she was a teenager growing up in an institution for disabled children. She leads Ryerson’s accessibility initiative, "ACCESS RYERSON," aimed at identifying, removing and preventing barriers to inclusion for all disabled members of the Ryerson community. Heather has a BA in Disability Studies from Ryerson and a post-graduate diploma in Disability Studies from the University of Leeds.
