It's that time of year again. The campus is busy with students, faculty and staff welcoming each other back to the fall term. Ryerson is also actively renewing its partnerships with the external community. Community building is at the heart of Ryerson. It's part of our values, the educational experiences in which we engage, the research we conduct and the collaborative partnerships in which we participate. I am very proud of how the university embraces its commitment to community.

Soon we will be reaching out to you about Ryerson's 2017 United Way (opens in new window)  campaign – an important way that we give back to the community.

This year the theme of the Ryerson United Way campaign is youth and diversity. Enhancing the future for young people and respect for diversity are close to the hearts of all of us at Ryerson. We want to ensure that United Way agencies doing important work in these and other areas have the support they need.

As we prepare for the start of the campaign, we hope that you will consider participating in some of the United Way events on campus, volunteering as United Way Ambassadors, hosting your own bake sales and other fundraisers. To learn more, please visit the volunteer page (opens in new window) .

I look forward to seeing you on campus in the coming weeks and seeing our community pull together for the 2017 Ryerson United Way Campaign.
