Appointments will continue to elevate the university's engaging and inclusive learning programming for students, faculty and staff.

I am pleased to announce the interim appointments of Fred Anger as dean, The G. Raymond Chang School of Continuing Education, and David Begg as director, The Real Institute. Both valued members of the Ryerson community, Fred and David will continue to elevate the university's programming by championing engaging and inclusive learning environments for students, faculty and staff.

Fred Anger

Fred Anger has been appointed interim dean of The Chang School.

Fred joined The Chang School in 2008 and has served most recently as executive director, Financial Planning and Strategy. An extremely effective and supportive team leader, he was a member of the 2015 task force that would ultimately enrich Ryerson’s continuing education offerings.

With responsibilities ranging from finance to business development and operations, Fred enhanced decision making at the executive level by introducing more effective business intelligence tools, and improved The Chang School’s enrollment process by leading the procurement of a new website. He also had an instrumental role in actualizing Ryerson’s ESL Foundation Program that would lead to the creation of the The Real Institute.

Fred holds a Bachelor of Commerce (Hons – First Class) from Queen's University and has a CPA, CA designation.

David Begg

David Begg has been appointed interim director of The Real Institute.

David joined Ryerson International in 2006, most recently serving as manager, Global Learning and Engagement. Responsible for the planning and management of the global learning portfolio, he developed Ryerson's internationalization strategy in collaboration with colleagues from across the university.

Driven by the potential of global education to transform students’ understanding of the world, David has been a longtime advocate of learning without borders. Prior to joining Ryerson International, he worked with the university’s Faculty of Arts and Continuing Education units, and supervised a team of ESL instructors in Kokura, Japan.

David holds an M.Ed. in Comparative and International Higher Education from the University of Toronto.

Please join me in congratulating Fred and David in their respective interim roles. I am confident that our community will continue to thrive as they realize their visions for the university.
