Feedback from the previous survey led to an increase in study spaces on campus.

Starting February 12, first- and fourth-year students will be invited to participate in the 2020 National Survey of Student Engagement (external link)  (NSSE), an important initiative that measures Ryerson’s performance and helps inform decisions to improve the quality of the student experience. Students will receive an email asking for their feedback. The survey will be open from Wednesday, February 12 to Friday, March 20, 2020.

NSSE is an opportunity for students to give their input on issues ranging from coursework expectations to what Ryerson can do to improve the student experience inside and outside the classroom.

“Student feedback is very important to Ryerson,” said President Mohamed Lachemi. “This survey ensures that the university has an accurate picture of student life. We assess the survey feedback and use those insights to make valuable changes to improve services, to continue to offer the best possible experience to all of our students.”

NSSE results have informed a variety of initiatives at Ryerson. Past NSSE feedback has underscored the importance of study space. As a result, increased student space has been included as an integral part of new building plans. Similarly, survey responses inform curriculum reviews of academic programs, and subsequent initiatives have been undertaken in an effort to provide students with more choice in their course selections.

First- and fourth-year students should check their @torontomu.ca email account for details and the link to the online survey.

Students who complete the survey by March 20, 2020 will be automatically entered into a prize draw. Two winners at Ryerson can each choose either a Microsoft Surface 3 (13.5" 8GB/256GB SSD) or a MacBook Air (8GB/256GB SSD) for their prize.
