East and Southeast Asian-identified Students Support Group
April 1 and April 8: Hosted by the Tri-Mentoring Program, RU Student Life, International Student Support and Learning Support in partnership with the Centre for Student Development and Counselling, this support group series provides a place for Asian Identified Students to share their unfiltered feelings about the recent hateful actions against the Asian community. Topics discussed will include but not be limited to: building community space, meditation and mental health and wellbeing.

Solve Climate by 2030
April 7: SciXChange will host a panel discussion featuring Ryerson alumni and climate change activists including Friday for Futures organizers for an interdisciplinary discussion about climate justice in our community. The panel links into the larger network of climate change events (external link)  across 50 countries.

The Last Lecture
April 8:
Ryerson Student Life & Campus Engagement is hosting the sixth annual Last Lecture, based on Randy Pausch’s last lecture at Carnegie Mellon University in 2007, which challenges speakers to answer one question: “If this were your last time to address a group of students, what would you say to them?” This event is open to the entire Ryerson community.

Professional Culinary Series
April 9: Join in for a live and interactive cooking demo, with TRSM’s executive chef Tommy McHugh, who will walk attendees through the step-by-step process of making beer-battered fish, mushy peas, tartar sauce and garnish. Participants can check out the ingredient list in advance to get all set up for the main event.

Mobile Augmented Reality (external link)
April 13: This showcase will take attendees through an afternoon of live demonstrations of mobile Augmented Reality projects created by students in Ryerson’s Master of Digital Media program. From AR paper plane to a dystopian re-creation of downtown Toronto, get ready to be amazed at the level of creativity that the students have brought to the table.

International Day of Pink
April 14: This annual international day brings community together in solidarity against homophobic and transphobic bullying, and to celebrate equity, diversity and inclusion. Much like our celebration in 2020, Positive Space has organized a virtual Day of Pink for Ryerson community members to come together in a pink shirt or clothing item to show their support.

Intersections: Arts and Culture in a Post-Pandemic World
April 15: COVID-19 has taken a toll on so many fields, including the arts and culture. This panel discussion brings together private and public sectors, government and academic experts in the field who will share thoughts on when we might return to normal, and what a new normal may look like.

Ocean in a Jar with Eureka Camps
April 24: Invite your family to join this virtual engineering camp experience, led by Ryerson’s Eureka! Camp counsellors. This session includes an introduction to the science experiment from a Ryerson student, a go-at-your-own-pace instructional video with Zoom support from the instructor and a chance to show off your creation to other participants.

The Power of Style with Christian Allaire
April 30: This talk with alumnus Christian Allaire (Journalism ’14), fashion and style writer at Vogue, will celebrate his new book, The Power of Style, a book that explores how fashion and beauty are being used to reclaim cultures. Allaire and Ben Barry will probe the connections between fashion and history, culture, politics and social justice.
