Jennifer Simpson

Former Provost and Vice-President, Academic (Chair)
DepartmentOffice of the Provost and Vice-President, Academic

A proven leader of collaborative and strategic change, Jennifer S. Simpson was drawn to Ryerson because of the strong overlap between what she cares about, her expertise and the university’s priorities and values. Jennifer’s scholarship over the last two decades has substantively engaged with questions of theory and application and with questions of anti- racism and anti-colonialism in university environments. She has also supported systematic attention to equity and decolonization efforts at both the pan-university and faculty levels, as demonstrated by her role as Chair of the Deans’ Council Working Group on EDI.

Jennifer is committed to building on excellent initiatives at the university addressing anti-black racism, decolonization, and equity. She is honoured to serve as Chair of the University Renaming Advisory Committee and is looking forward to bringing her experience and commitment to furthering this important work.
